On April 20, 2010, a deadly explosion on the BP-leased Deepwater Horizon rig in the Gulf of Mexico caused a leak in the underwater well that proved difficult for crews to cap. The ensuing spill into the Gulf exceeded 1989's Exxon Valdez disaster, wreaking havoc on wildlife and Gulf fishing industries, sending BP into a tailspin and planting tar balls on tourist beaches. Here are photos from the BP Gulf oil spill.
