Prime Minister Tzipi Livni?
Wednesday August 6, 2008
Israel's foreign minister could become the first woman to serve there as prime minister since Golda Meir (Livni already followed in Meir's footsteps by becoming the second woman to serve as foreign minister). She's currently leading in polls to take over the Kadima party leadership from the resigning Ehud Olmert. Learn more about Tzipi Livni here.

Why do many Jews appear to be Caucasian, while many Arabs and Islamics appear darker, of a different race. Aren’t both groups Semitic?
This is a bit of an over-simplification, but here goes… Modern Jews are generally classified into two major groups of the Jewish diaspora. Basically, the Ashkenazim (Jews from Europe) and Sephardim (Jews from the Middle East and Africa). It’s probably safe to say that there was considerable inter-marriage between the Ashkenazim and their European neighbors, thus the “caucasian” features you refer to. At the other extreme, you have the Ethiopian Jews. And you have every shade in-between.
There is also considerable variation in appearance between “Arabs” in different parts of the Middle East. Compare Lebanese and Oamnis for the starkest contrast.
